For those who are new to Rupi, she is a breakout literary phenomenon who’s work touches on love, loss, trauma, healing, femininity, and migration. After recently seeing her live from the front row in Edmonton, I’ve realized the profound impact her poetry has had not only on my heart, but my sole. As this poem depicts, growth is part of the process, and that is what 2022 brought remembrance of for me – growth through continued learning and discomfort.
