January 2024 - New Year, Who Dis?

Another year of endless possibilities awaits, and I'm thrilled to share some updates and highlights with you.

✨ Connect Cards Unveiled: This year, I'm launching Connect Cards. These thoughtfully curated cards are designed to empower CEOs and leaders in fostering a more inclusive work environment. The deck serves as a catalyst for meaningful conversations, driving positive change. Additionally, there's a special edition—Connect Cards for Parents—aimed at fostering inclusive conversations with kids.

🗽 CSW Acceptance: I'm thrilled to share that I've been accepted to attend the sixty-eighth session of the Commission on the Status of Women in New York this March. It's a dream come true, offering a chance to contribute to a global event of immense significance in the pursuit of gender equality.

🎙️ New Voices: I've added five new podcasts to my list this year, expanding the voices and perspectives I'll be learning from. Check out the full list below.

I’m so excited for what’s to come this year and it wouldn’t be a complete newsletter without a couple of Good News Stories to kickstart our year:

👥 BBC Teachable Moment: Charlie Stayt had an insightful conversation with Jono Lancaster, author of 'Not All Heroes Wear Capes.' Jono emphasized the importance of using "visible difference" instead of "deformities," showcasing the power of language in addressing unique conditions.

🛑 Email Body-Shamer Shut Down: Leslie Horton from Global Calgary shut down an email body-shamer on live TV, reminding viewers to be mindful of the words they choose. Check out the inspiring moment here.

🤟✨ ASL Translation Glove: In 2020, UCLA bioengineers created a glove-like device that translates American Sign Language into English speech in real time through a smartphone app. This innovation makes communication between sign language users and non-signers seamless.

Can't wait to share more insights and connect with you in 2024!

With love,
